A hectic start!

I woke up this morning with a good feeling. It felt promising despite the snowy start. The ride to the airport was rough considering I felt like I wanted to puke! I started to get so nervous but I was also excited to get started! Upon arriving at the check in counter at US Airways, I saw Caitlin! A familiar face, I was glad to see! That meant someone to go through security with which is always the most nerve racking part. However, after saying hello to Caitlin and her family, I am informed that our flight to Philadelphia has been cancelled and we are being re-routed through Charlotte. There was no great explanation for the change in flights but that did not slow me down. I could handle another flight! So, after taking a few quick pics with my family and saying goodbye, I started my journey through security. Security went well though. My backpack had to be scanned TWICE and while that was happening, you can imagine my nervousness! But I made it! At the gate, I met a bunch of the other students traveling with me and we were all pretty excited to get on the plane!

The flight to Charlotte went well but when we landed, we had to run to another end of the terminal to get to our connecting flight on time. We got there and things were moving VERY slowly. We were not late, which was the good news but with no overhead compartment space left, things were cramped and we left a little late. That flight was pretty easy and quick as well.

Then came Philly...we had plenty of time to waste in Philadelphia. We arrived at 4 something and our flight wasn't scheduled to leave until 6:35. Plenty of time, right?! So we relax, eat, hang out at the gate and we board on time, as scheduled. Unfortunately, while we were boarding the then rain storm had developed into a nasty snow/ice blizzard. So we're sitting on the plane, ready to go...for 2 hours!! Luckily they turned on the entertainment system for us so we could watch whatever movies or tv shows we wanted. After 2 hours of waiting for the conditions to get better, they decide to cancel our flight and all others. You can imagine the stress now...so the next flight to Madrid is tomorrow at 6:35 (24 hours after our original planned flight). So I'm here in the airport where I will be spending the night. At least this way I'll definitely sleep on the plane tomorrow night.

So, that was a long boring post, but hopefully next time, I will be writing from Spain.

Hello all,

There are still 11 days until I am on a plane to Spain but I thought I'd set this up now! In order for you all to know what I am up to in Spain, I will try to update this as often as I can!

I can't believe I only have 11 days left here in Kentucky! For those of you wondering, I leave January 26 at 12:45 p.m. Then I'm off to Pennsylvania and will be leaving from Philly to Madrid at 6:35 p.m. and will arrive in Madrid at 7:55 a.m. on Jan. 27 (Spain time!!) If you're wondering, Spain is 6 hours ahead of Eastern Time here in the States! :)

I guess I better start packing soon!!
